In this video, I demonstrated on wax paper, so whenever I lifted the knifes, papers sometime were lifted up too. When painting directly on top of butter cream cakes, this wonât happen. However, to ensure a sturdy surface for painting, it is advised to frost and chill your cake before painting. I often paint on frozen cakes. When they have become softer, I put them in fridge again, and continue later.
Painting on top of the cake is easier than on the side. For design needed to paint on the side of the cake, you may need twist your arms and hands more to get palette knife into the right position and direction.
