Fondant ruffle cake with gum paste peony


GUM PASTE FLOWER TOOLS:

  1. Peony cutter set

  2. Small rolling pin

  3. Ball tools / Modelling tools

  4. Petal and Leaves Veining Board (celboard)

  5. Leaf veiner

  6. Flower mat

  7. Foam balls, arts and crafts Supplies (1 1/2 in)

  8. 18, 24 gauge wire

  9. Florist tape (colour of your choices)

  10. Wire cutter

  11. Long Nose Plier Tool for Daily Use

  12. Brush


CAKE DECORATING TOOLS

  1. Large rolling pin

  2. Sizing mat or tape measure

  3. Smoother

  4. Small spatula

  5. Brush

  6. Small sharp knife


OTHER:

  1. 100g gum paste (more or less depend on petal size and thickness)

  2. 500g Fondant (350g for cake, 150g for cake board and decoration)

  3. 6" cake (with about 4" height)

  4. Cornstarch or powdered sugar

  5. Shortening or royal icing

  6. Water

Note:

Make sure working surfaces are clean, dry and smooth.

Using cornstarch or powdered sugar to dust your work surface is a personal preference. Cornstarch will dry out fondant so never knee cornstarch into your fondant. Cornstarch can be helpful during humid weather.

Powdered sugar is preferable for dusting work surfaces when using a dense, dry or colored fondant.
